Keara Mombourquette is a 4th year Kinesiology Honours student, an Athletic Therapy student, a Dean’s List scholar, and a Teaching Assistant for Acadia’s Cardiac Maintenance (ACM) program.
Over the past few months Keara’s research accomplishments have been nothing short of extraordinary for an undergraduate student. She:
1) has received an Honours Summer Research Award to support her work in understanding loneliness and social isolation among those with cardiopulmonary diseases;
2) will present an abstract at the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) in October focused on pulmonary rehabilitation in rural communities;
3) earned a travel award from CSEP;
4) received a travel award from the Clinical Trials Training Program (a national and interdisciplinary competitive call for submissions open to undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral fellows); and,
5) has a second author publication accepted into the Canadian Journal of Cardiology.
In addition to these accomplishments, Keara is highly regarded for her contributions as a Teaching Assistant in the ACM program and as an Athletic Therapy student with the Acadia Men’s Varsity Football Team. Community members in the ACM program have recognized her kindness, enthusiasm, strong organizational skills, and professionalism. Her commitment to Football requires attending multiple practices each week in addition to games. Colleagues, including her clinical supervisor, describe Keara as enthusiastic, hardworking, and committed, with an exceptional work ethic that makes her a valued member of the medical team. These accomplishments showcase Keara’s dedication to her education and professional development making her a highly deserving candidate for Student of the Month!
Congratulations Keara!
