Student of the Month

November 2025 - Will Dauphinee

Will is an outstanding fourth-year Honours Kinesiology student who consistently brings energy and care into everything he does.

Will is completing an Honours thesis supervised by Dr. Emily Bremer (Canada Research Chair), examining concussion management and education among Special Olympics athletes across Canada, an important and timely area of research. He previously worked as a research assistant on a national qualitative study exploring athletes’ concussion experiences, which he presented at SCAPPS 2025 and is now preparing for publication. He also received a USRA to support summer data collection, providing concussion education at Special Olympics events across the Maritimes and Quebec in both English and French. Will’s research experience further includes investigating pectoralis major muscle properties under Dr. Sarah Bohunicky and presenting at both APES and CSEP in 2024.

Beyond maintaining a high academic average and being an active researcher, Will is deeply involved in the Acadia and Wolfville communities. He is a Student Director of the Friday night S.M.I.L.E. program, works at L'Arche Homefires supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, the current AKS president, and is a teaching assistant for several Kinesiology core courses. Will is also a former varsity swimmer.

Across every domain, Will has been caring, strategic, and driven. He is the type of student who lifts the spirits of those around him, finds humour in all situations. Will truly has been a core member of the Acadia Kinesiology community over the last three years and is very deserving of Student of the Month.

Congratulations Will!
