Kate Bemrose has been selected as Student of the Month in recognition of her exceptional academic performance, leadership, and dedication to advancing equity in health and physical activity. Kate is an Honours Kinesiology student with an outstanding academic record who consistently demonstrates intellectual curiosity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to meaningful, community-engaged work. She was awarded the prestigious Webster Undergraduate Research Award which recognizes exceptional academic performance and outstanding research potential.
Kate’s academic and research interests centre on understanding the social and structural factors that shape access to movement and wellbeing, particularly for girls and women. As a Research Assistant, she has contributed to innovative, arts-based research and has presented this work at interdisciplinary and national conferences. Her ability to thoughtfully engage with research and translate it into inclusive practice reflects both academic excellence and emerging leadership in the field.
In addition to her scholarly achievements, Kate is deeply involved in leadership and service across campus. She currently serves as President of the Acadia Movement Initiative, where she promotes safe and inclusive physical activity spaces for women and non-binary individuals. She is also the first-ever Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Coordinator for the Acadia Kinesiology Society and was responsible for the establishment of this important position. She is also a committed Teaching Assistant and SMILE program leader, supporting inclusive movement opportunities for individuals of varying abilities. Not to mention, Kate is also an avid dancer and STRAVA influencer.
Kate’s warmth, enthusiasm, integrity, and sustained contributions to the university community make her a highly deserving Student of the Month.

Each year the Kinesiology graduating class gives back to the school with a gift.
Class of 2022 gave a display case for in the student lounge. The first display is in memory of Kai Matthews.
Class of 2021 gave a sign that was installed outside the student lounge (metal A with red lights).
Class of 2020 gave accessible signage for the school.
Class of 2019 gave a television for practising presentations in the Student Lounge.
Class of 2018 worked hard to renovate the Student Lounge as their class gift.
