Hannah Miller Memorial Fund

Hannah Miller was a 7 year old minor hockey player in the Acadia Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) Quick Start program. She loved to play hockey and her enthusiasm was evident to everyone.

In the spring of 2005, shortly after the end of her first hockey season, she was tragically killed in a car accident in Port Williams. To perpetuate her love of hockey this fund was established in her memory.   In March 2006, the 1st Annual Hannah Miller Memorial Hockey Tournament was organized by Acadia University Recreation Management students.

An Annual March Break Hannah Miller Memorial Tournament is held at Acadia for IP 1 and IP 2 divisions.   Acadia students organize the tournament in its entirety as part of an academic curriculum project.  Hannah’s family take part in the festivities every year, stating they are ‘grateful for the work of the Acadia students, and really enjoy seeing all of the little smiling hockey players on this fun-filled day of hockey.

The Hannah Miller Memorial Fund is a not-for-profit organization that operates under a Board of Acadia University, Acadia Minor Hockey Association (AMHA), and community members.  The fund gives back to the hockey community by providing some financial relief primarily for underprivileged AMHA players, creates opportunities for female hockey development and initiatives, as well as award an annual scholarship to a chosen Acadia Student.
